Update on our Japanese cooking classes in Canberra

Japanese piccata of sesame-encrusted whiting fillets

We are continually monitoring the COVID-19 situation in Australia to assess whether we can resume our Japanese cooking classes in Canberra region. Although there have officially been no new cases recorded in the Australian Capital Territory for some time, it is clear that the amount of traffic between Canberra and ‘hotspot’ areas of New South Wales (particularly Sydney) means that there is an ever-present risk of COVID-19 transmission within the Canberra region.

As such, we have assessed for now that our public classes in indoor venues will remain suspended until further notice. However, private, on-demand classes (held in private kitchens with groups of family or friends) are most likely to resume from October. We are also assessing the feasibility of holding outdoor demo-type public classes from October onward. So please check or for the latest updates.

In the meantime, please try out at home some of our Japanese recipes available for download at, where you will discover quite a few dishes that are not well known outside of Japan.
